Even if things were shuffled around here and there, the power rankings for this week won't seem too unfamiliar if you've been following along. Don't let that fool you into thinking nothing interesting happened, though. Among the action were the efforts of All Saints's senior Shaun Taylor, an offensive menace who scored six total TDs.
No Stoppin 'Em
Though not as conclusive as the rankings might have led one to believe, Horn's matchup last week went as planned. It came out on top in a nail-biter against Rockwall-Heath, sneaking past 45 - 42. Horn and Rockwall-Heath were a much more even match than Horn's previous opponent, giving the fans a heck of a game. At 87 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between DeSoto (22nd in the MaxPreps state rankings) and South Grand Prairie (86th) did not disappoint. DeSoto narrowly escaped with a win as it sidled past South Grand Prairie 17 - 14. DeSoto had two big standouts, as junior Daryon Triche rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns, while senior Kelan Walker ran for 119 yards and snatched up one reception.
Movin on Up
The Graham offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It blew past Iowa Park 49 - 21. Junior Chase Gilmore was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he earned two touchdowns and 165 yards rushing the ball). Graham's success was rewarded with a seven boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
Game of Inches
It isn't too difficult to come out on top when you enjoy a 196-yard edge over your opponent, and Fossil Ridge had just that last week. It can thank its lucky stars for its win over Keller. The final score was a hard-fought 41 - 40. Senior Cobe Craft deserves a lot of the credit as he tossed the ball for 175 yards and four TDs. The one-point margin earned this game the title of 'most exciting' for the week.
