Menlo-Atherton (7-4) has a real challenge coming up -- the hardest it has met all year. Both it and Milpitas (11-0-0) have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Friday at 7:00 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. Both teams come into the game backed by wins in their previous games.
Last week, Menlo-Atherton took on San Benito. Menlo-Atherton's defense took a beating in the first half, giving up 21 points. That put it down 21 - 14. Thankfully, the offense came through for it, scoring 23 in the second half. The game ended up being a comfortable 37 - 21 victory for it.
As for Milpitas, it has netted another blowout to add to its collection (now totaling ten) after its most recent game. It breezed past Bellarmine College Prep last week with a final score of 35 - 7. One major factor in the win was the play of senior Tariq Bracy, who rushed for 202 yards and one touchdown. Bracy should be a familiar name as he has been a major contributor for Milpitas in the past seven games. Senior Tyree Bracy banked an additional three TDs for the team.
Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Milpitas and Menlo-Atherton will really light up the scoreboard.
