This week's postseason action didn't throw the rankings into complete disarray, but it did reorder the standings a decent amount. A special shoutout goes to Briarwood Christian's junior Jr Tran-reno, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
The power rankings welcomes a newcomer to the scene as Hokes Bluff earned the 25th spot after its strong showing last week. It came out on top against Rogers with a 12 - 0 win. 12 is shaping up to be Hokes Bluff's lucky number as the team posted the same point total in its victory over Madison Academy the game before.
Can't Touch This
Briarwood Christian got a 35 - 14 win over Lee last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Jr Tran-reno. Tran-reno rushed for 102 yards and five touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Tran-reno as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
No Stoppin 'Em
Hoover and Hewitt-Trussville went up, up, and away last week as they combined for the highest point total (77) among all power ranked teams. Hoover picked up a decisive 'W' against Hewitt-Trussville, finishing up at 56 - 21. Even if it didn't bump Hoover up the rankings, the win at least kept team from dropping.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Hoover (2nd in the power rankings) and Thompson (1st). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Thompson and Hoover both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Thompson with nine and Hoover with six), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
