South Carroll extended the longest winning streak in Monocacy Valley - Chesapeake this week by beating North Carroll, 47-17. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Westminster's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Duke Etchinson threw for 297 and 5 touchdowns and Ryan Hursey had 128 yards receiving. On the ground Austin Raines chipped in 10 yards. Patrick Fitzgerald helped Westminster's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 65 yards.
He went 13-13 with 0 interceptions.
Raines was the best running back in the league this week. In 1 carry, he ran for 10 yards as the Owls bested Century. Brian Kohr also contributed to the rushing game with 14 yards on the ground.
Westminster's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Owls feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Etchinson has thrown for 2,562 yards and 31 touchdowns this season, while Hursey has 68 catches for 925 yards.
Hursey of the Westminster's is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 75 receiving yards in this week's game against South Carroll to get there. So far this year, he has acheived 68 catches for 925 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Steve Luette's team takes on Brad Wilson's team. At the moment, the Cavaliers are in first, while the Owls are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when South Carroll takes on Westminster. The Cavaliers have allowed 144 points this season, while the Owls have given up 136. South Carroll allowed 17 points last week as it topped the Panthers.
Westminster took down the Knights 50-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Etchinson ran for 19 yards during the win.
