Led by an explosive offensive attack, Holy Trinity continued its winning ways with a 27-17 road win over Chaminade. Senior running back Anthony Brunetti gained a career-high 359 yards on 39 carries, and scored three times to lead the Titans. Holy Trinity improved to 3-0 in CHSFL AAA, 4-0 overall.
The Flyers scored first when John Connelly nailed a 25-yard field goal. The Titans would answer on the following possession when quarterback Chris Laviano connected with Djovanny Joseph for a 65-yard touchdown. Patrick Dreiss hit the PAT to give Holy Trinity a 7-3 lead as the opening quarter came to a close.
Holy Trinity scored on its first play from scrimmage in the second quarter when Brunetti broke loose for an 80-yard run. The kick failed. PAT was no good. Both teams had opportunities to score in the prior to half time, failed to capitalize.
Chaminade looked like it was ready to score, but lost a fumble deep in Holy Trinity territory. On the Titans ensuing drive, Laviano was picked off in the end zone. Holy Trinity led 13-3 at the half.
The Titans went three-and-out on their first drive of the second half, and then had a punt blocked. The Flyers bounced on the ball at Holy Trinity’s 24-yard line. Three plays later. quarterback Marc Anthony Parrino hooked up with Michael Ernhardt for the 22-yard score. The PAT was good and the Titans lead was cut to 13-10.
Again, the Titans would answer as Brunetti capped off a seven-play, 68-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run. The PAT gave Holy Trinity a 20-10 lead.
Holy Trinity struck again after another Chaminade turnover. Brunetti took it in from 53 yards out to put the game away. The Flyers would add a late touchdown on a touchdown run by Francis Soler.
Holy Trinity will host Xaverian, next weekend. Chaminade, 1-2 in CHSFL AAA, 2-2 overall, will take on St. Joseph-by-the-Sea.
