Burke County (Waynesboro, Ga.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 61-0 win over Cross Creek (Augusta, Ga.).
The Bears put up 21 points in the opening quarter. Burke County scored on a rushing touchdown, a touchdown run and a rushing touchdown.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run in the first quarter, BC led 48-0 at the half.
The Waynesboro school expanded its lead to 61 points entering the fourth quarter. The Bears scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 84-7 win for Burke County.
The victory was a step in the right direction for BC, which was coming off a 21-7 defeat at the hands of Statesboro in its previous game. The win broke Burke County's two-game losing streak. The loss was the third in a row for the Razorbacks.
