You might not recognize the power rankings this week after a busy last week rearranged the teams a whole lot. Among the action were the efforts of Arvada West's senior Johnny Krutsch, an offensive menace who scored six total TDs.
Can't Touch This
La Junta's 34 - 0 win over Alamosa last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Jon Nuschy. Nuschy ran for 234 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. That performance landed Nuschy among the top power-ranked players for the week.
No Stoppin 'Em
Even if it wasn't quite the margin the team was expecting, Discovery Canyon's contest against Pueblo South still finished up like the MaxPreps state rankings predicted. Discovery Canyon battled it out with Pueblo South for a well-earned 42 - 41 overtime win. Discovery Canyon and Pueblo South were a much more even match than Discovery Canyon's previous opponent, giving the fans a heck of a game. At 83 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Pine Creek (4th in the power rankings) and Valor Christian (2nd). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Only one team will win this week, so we'll find out which team fails to repeat its success.
