The MaxPreps travel team made its next stop to
Blue Springs South (MO) High School which is located just outside of Kansas City, Missouri to honor the Jaguars football team on the 11th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its 11th year honoring football.
Blue Springs South is only one of nearly 17,000 teams that will receive this prestigious award. The Jaguars were invited to the Tour of Champions after they finished the season as the No. 1 team in the state and secured a national ranking of No. 44 in the MaxPreps computer rankings. To top it off, they completed an undefeated season and took home the 2015 state title.
The ceremony took place on Friday, Jan. 8 during the intermission between the boys junior varsity and the varsity basketball game. To kick it off, MaxPreps representative Will Arens took the microphone and congratulated the team on its phenomenal season accomplishments. Arens emphasized how special this year was for the Jaguars as he highlighted their undefeated season and state championship.
Staff Sergeant Matthew Morris of the Missouri National Guard continued the ceremony and compared the Jaguars to the Army National Guard as he reflected on the quality of the team’s character. Sergeant Morris described the resemblance between the traits necessary for success on the football field and success in the Army National Guard. The crowd was completely captivated as he commended the Blue Springs South Jaguars and when head coach Greg Oder was presented with the Minuteman trophy, they broke out in a loud applause.
Receiving this honor and the national ranking trophy was the perfect ending to a perfect season. Congratulations Blue Springs South on becoming the best team in Missouri as the state champion and one of the top teams in the nation!
