Section 9 AA-I recap November 5, 2013
Kingston moved up to 153 from 211 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 9 AA-I. The Tigers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Valley Central 31-7.
Monroe-Woodbury added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Washingtonville, 56-17. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Crusaders.
Mike Martin was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 27 carries, he ran for 205 yards as Pine Bush bested the Vikings. Dylan Eller also contributed to the rushing game with 74 yards on the ground.
Jeramie Collins' team's Pat Dorrian and Shawn Marchant led Section 9 AA-I in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Dorrian has thrown for 2,012 yards this season, while Marchant has 63 catches for 1,045 yards. Martin from the Bushmen leads the league in rushing with 1,515 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Monroe-Woodbury and Newburgh Free Academy. Bernie Connolly's team enters the contest ranked third in the state, while the Goldbacks ranks fifth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Crusaders take on Newburgh Free Academy. Monroe-Woodbury has allowed 99 points this season, while Bill Bianco's team has given up 150. The Crusaders allowed 17 points last week as they topped the Wizards.
Monroe-Woodbury took down Washingtonville 56-17 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kevin Carr threw for 109 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 138 yards in the win.
