The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday Cathedral takes on Redlands East Valley in the first playoff game of the year. Cathedral is coming into the game hot, having won six in a row.
Cathedral kept its home record unblemished after another positive outing on its own turf. It came out on top against St. Francis last week with a 28 - 16 win. Sophomore Bryce Young deserves a lot of the credit as he tossed the ball for 248 yards and two TDs.
Meanwhile, the match between Redlands East Valley and Cajon was close at the half, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the final score. Redlands East Valley suffered a painful 35 - 14 defeat to Cajon last week. A sore spot for Redlands East Valley was the persistent Cajon defense that pierced the offensive line for 11 sacks.
Redlands East Valley's defeat dropped it to 6-4 while Cathedral's win brought it to 9-1. We'll see if Cathedral can add another positive mark to its record or if Redlands East Valley can shake off its loss and take the spring out of Cathedral's step.
