There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. There's a new number one at the head of the rankings as well as a new caboose.
Welcome
Louisa County was the better team in every quarter against Monticello last week and consequently the better team overall. Everything went Louisa County's way against Monticello as it secured a 62 - 21 win. Louisa County was heavily favored coming into this contest, and the results showcase why. Thanks to its success, Louisa County cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 20th spot.
Upcoming Drama
It should be quite a contest when St. John's (ranked 1st in DC) and DeMatha (3rd in MD) face off this week. This will be the second home game in a row for St. John's. We'll see if it can add another positive mark to its record or if DeMatha can shake its defeat and take the spring out of St. John's's step.
Big Showdown
It was a battle of top-notch squads when Bullis (7th in the power rankings) took on Landon (16th) last week. Bullis earned a pretty comfortable 21 - 6 victory over Landon. As a result, Bullis rose one spot in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
There were a lot of high-scoring contests in the power rankings last week, but the 90-point effort in this one put it right at the top of the list. Martinsburg picked up a decisive 'W' against Hedgesville, finishing up at 83 - 7. Hopefully the win is satisfying enough on its own since Martinsburg actually slipped two places in the power rankings.
