MaxPreps National Team of the Week - Ferris, Wash.
Ferris (29-0) completed a perfect season and captured Washington's 4A title with four wins in four nights last week at the Tacoma Dome, including a double-overtime, 68-61 win over Kentridge in the championship game.
The Saxons eased into the semifinals with wins over Kentwood (61-38) and Redmond (57-48), setting up a showdown with defending state champion and top-ranked Franklin of Seattle Friday night.
Ferris' junior trio of DeAngelo Casto, Shawn Stockton, and Jared Karstetter produced 77 points against the Quakers, sparking a 100-79 blowout and advancing to the Saturday night final against Kentridge.
Stockton - nephew of former Utah Jazz point guard John Stockton - was named the tournament's most valuable player, averaging 17.2 points per game.
The Spokane school could be a major player nationally in 2007-2008, returning Stockton, Casto, and Karstetter, as well as four other juniors who played a role for head coach Don Van Lierop this season.
The Saxons jumped to the No. 10 spot in this week's MaxPreps National Rankings following their tournament run.
