James Wilder Jr.
It's about four hours until
James Wilder Jr., the No. 1 recruit from the class of 2011 according to
MaxPreps.com, will announce to the sporting world his plans for college.
The general consensus is that the
Plant (Tampa, Fla.) senior running back and linebacker will pick either Florida, Florida State or Georgia.
One website,
FanHouse.com, has reported that the 6-foot-2, 220-pound standout and son of former NFL back
James Wilder Sr. has already picked Georgia. FanHouse.com reporter Brett McMurphy wrote: "Barring a last-minute change of heart (Wilder Jr.). ... will attend Georgia next season, sources told FanHouse."
A source close to the situation told
MaxPreps that there's a 80-90 percent chance Wilder Jr. will not be attending Georgia. Calls to Plant to confirm FanHouse's claim were not returned, which makes perfect sense. Wilder Jr. is schedule to make his announcement at the Plant campus at 5 p.m. (EST) in front of throngs of media. He'll let everyone know then.
MaxPreps.com correspondent Rod Gipson will be there and file a live blog, starting at approximately 4:30 p.m. Stay tuned for that.
