MaxPreps is proud to again sponsor the Ohio Athlete of the Week awards during the 2018-19 school year.
Each week during the season (regular and post), there will be a fan-generated contest to tab weekly winners. Each winner receives an award patch for their varsity jacket and a digital badge (below) on their MaxPreps player page.
How does it work?
Nominees are selected from statistics submitted on MaxPreps. Coaches who do not have current access may request their free account here. Weekly finalists are released on MaxPreps every Tuesday and voting is conducted in a special poll. Voting ceases at noon on Mondays. The winners (2 per week) are announced the next day along with the next week's nominees.
Participants may vote as many times as they want. It's a competition.

Nation's No. 6 ranked wrestler at 106 won the Walsh Ironman title.
Week 17 Ohio High School Athlete of the Week Nominees* Jaron Sharp, Kenton Boys Basketball
Needing 16 points to reach 1,000 for his career the senior went off scoring a school single-game record 47 points (and grabbing 11 rebounds) in an 89-52 win over Riverdale. Mark Molk (’96) held the previous record with 46. * Sean Marks, Olentangy (Lewis Center) Boys Basketball
Senior and Ohio Dominican recruit scored 30 points in a 68-57 win over Parkersburg South (WV) to surpass 1,000 for his career. He is the fourth player in program history to eclipse the mark and is 144 points shy of becoming the program’s all-time leading scorer.

Junior set the program’s single-game 3-point record with seven in a 74-54 win over Groveport-Madison. Finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Averaging 16.1 points per game and shooting 45-percent (26-of-58) from 3.
* Quinn Hiles, Norwayne (Creston) Boys Basketball
Senior guard had a triple-double in a 70-62 win over Orrville with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists..

* Kristen Dickison, Milton-Union (West Milton) Girls Basketball
Senior scored 20 points in a 42-27 win over Middletown Madison to surpass 1,000 for her career. Is also the girls soccer program’s all-time leader in points (239), goals (98) and assists (43).
* Naeem Russell, Lima Senior Wrestling
Senior won the 160 title and was named Most Valuable Wrestler at the Allen County Invitational. Won all five matches via first round pin.

Junior captain had her fourth double-double in five games with 14 points, 22 rebounds, four assists and four steals in a 34-27 win over Riverdale. Had 21 points and 19 rebounds earlier this season in a win over Crestline. Averaging 12.3 points and 12.8 rebounds. * Brady Jaso, Gibsonburg Wrestling
Senior notched his 100th career win en route to winning the title at 160 and claiming Most Valuable Wrestler honors at the Mohawk Invitational.
