The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Saturday Prestonwood Christian takes on St. Thomas Catholic in the first playoff game of the year. Prestonwood Christian is coming into the game hot, having won four in a row.
Prestonwood Christian has netted another blowout to add to its collection (now totaling six) after its most recent game. It took its game against Trinity Christian last week by a confident 35 - 7 score. No one had a larger role in the success than senior Wiley Green, who brought his A game into the contest. He threw for 331 yards and four touchdowns. Green has been a consistent playmaker for Prestonwood Christian as this was the 6th good game in a row from him. Senior Jeremiah Lewis was in the mix too, providing Prestonwood Christian with three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, the MaxPreps national rankings speculated that St. Thomas Catholic might be blown out last week, and the rankings were right on the money. It had a rough outing against St. Pius X, losing 56 - 14. The defeat came about despite a quality game from junior Peyton Matocha, who finished up with 183 yards passing and one rushing touchdown. Matocha has now scored at least one TD in the past three consecutive games.
St. Thomas Catholic's defeat dropped it to 3-5 while Prestonwood Christian's win brought it to 8-2. St. Thomas Catholic's offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Prestonwood Christian defense that got four sacks against Trinity Christian last week. We'll see if it is up to the challenge.
