Both Searcy (8-2) and Lake Hamilton (5-5) have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Friday at 7:00 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. Searcy is coming into the game hot, having won three in a row.
The MaxPreps state rankings suggested a blowout in Searcy's previous game, and that is exactly what happened. It put the hurt on Hall last week with a conclusive 61 - 0 victory. At 61 points, that marked Searcy's largest margin of victory so far this year.
As for Lake Hamilton, it had a lot of difficulties with Greenwood last game and took a hard 45 - 17 hit. The defeat came about despite Lake Hamilton's dynamic duo of senior Jacob Nichols, who ran for 102 yards and snatched up two receptions, and sophomore Malik Brewer, who earned one touchdown and 72 yards rushing the ball. This marked the 5th consecutive game in which Nichols had 100+ rushing yards.
The last time they met, Searcy walked away with a 25 - 16 win. Its victory shoved Lake Hamilton out of the playoffs, so the team will have a target on its back in this one.
