As the state’s high school athletes return to the practice fields en masse today, MaxPreps is gearing up for its biggest season yet in covering Colorado.
MaxPreps has added softball, boys soccer and field hockey to its menu of fall sports, joining football and volleyball, to again make the site the top spot for scores, schedules, statistics, standings and statewide leaderboards.
In addition to the already plentiful photo and video galleries offered, former RockyPreps writers Scott Stocker, Alan Pearce and Paul Willis each will contribute weekly to the site, expanding the range of editorial coverage for the high school community.
Weekly features such as Athletes of the Week in each sport, coach-generated team rankings, a Worth the Drive look at the top games in each sport and Message Board also will provide added editorial depth and keep fresh local content on the site daily.
Softball, which can begin play Friday (Aug. 21), will be previewed later this week, with previews for the remaining sports to follow as the games draw closer. In addition, follow MaxPreps editor Gerry Valerio on Twitter for regular Colorado high school sports updates.
