There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. That and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Lake Stevens got a 62 - 14 win over Mariner last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Tre' Long. Long tossed the ball for 244 yards and four TDs. In fact, our algorithms singled out Long as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Mount Si (5th in the power rankings) and Woodinville (8th) did not disappoint. Mount Si was close but not close enough as it fell 16 - 14 to Woodinville. One positive for Mount Si, at least, was the performance of Cole Norah. The talented underclassman broke through the defense for one rushing touchdown along with five receptions.
Movin on Up
It isn't too difficult to come out on top when you enjoy a 128-yard edge over your opponent, and Glacier Peak had just that last week. It had all the answers against Mount Vernon, winning 30 - 6. The dominant performance adds to Glacier Peak's intimidating total: it now has five blowout victories so far this season. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by 16, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Bothell (13th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Camas (27th). Bothell will be strutting in after a win while Camas will be stumbling in from a defeat. We'll see if Bothell can add another positive mark to its record or if Camas can shake off its loss and take the spring out of Bothell's step.
