One team took the elevator way up and another took it way down in the power rankings this week. A special shoutout goes to Magnolia West's senior John Matocha, who scored six total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Tomball Memorial got a 55 - 21 win over Cypress Woods last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Christian Lovick. Lovick ran for 243 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. That performance landed Lovick among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between North Shore (1st in the power rankings) and Westfield (7th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. North Shore had all the answers against Westfield, winning 35 - 3. North Shore did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps national rankings indicated.
No Stoppin 'Em
The match between Cinco Ranch and Pearland last week put some strain on the scoreboard; in fact, with a total of 84 final points, it was the highest scoring contest in the power rankings for the week. Pearland breezed past Cinco Ranch with a final score of 56 - 28. The win boosted Pearland a satisfying nine spots in the power rankings.
