If there were any doubts about the heavy odds in favor of Hemingford coming into their matchup against Morrill on Friday, the team laid those doubts to rest. Hemingford steamrollered Morrill 79-12. The lopsided score is just par for the course this season for Hemingford, who can brag about three blowout wins.
Hemingford's success was spearheaded by the efforts of junior Carter Buchheit, who rushed for 159 yards and 4 touchdowns, and senior Justin Davis, who rushed for 175 yards and 3 touchdowns. If you haven't heard Davis's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past four games. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse sophomore Brian Turek, who racked up nine tackles.
The win was the 4th in a row for Hemingford, as they raised their record to 4-3. Morrill are on a three-game losing streak that has brought their record down to 2-5.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Hemingford will be playing at home against Perkins County at at 7:00 PM next week. As for Morrill, they will face off against Sutherland.
