The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday Wright City (5-4) takes on Winfield (4-5) in the first playoff game of the year. Both teams come into the game backed by wins in their previous games.
Wright City didn't have too many spare points last week in its contest with Bowling Green, but it still walked away with a 21 - 16 win. This was the first win away from home for Wright City this season.
Meanwhile, Winfield is still under.500 but has been making strides to fix that in its last two games. It breezed past Lift for Life Academy last week with a final score of 43 - 14. Junior Collin Sutton was especially active in the win, finding the end zone an impressive three times. This sound performance was nothing new for Sutton, who has been a rock for Winfield in the past four games. Additional support came from junior Kiyah Christensen, a defensive powerhouse who racked up 14 tackles.
The last time they met, Winfield was the clear winner with a 45 - 24 finish. Wright City couldn't get the same offensive movement going as Winfield (489 yards compared to 379 yards), so it will surely be hoping to change that this time around. Will Wright City avenge its loss? We'll find out soon enough.
