There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the action were the efforts of Fairview's junior Aidan Atkinson, an offensive menace who scored six total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Pomona got a 41 - 27 win over Arvada West last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Dominic Bettini. Bettini ran for 270 yards and also punched in five touchdowns. That performance landed Bettini among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between Grandview (6th in the power rankings) and Cherokee Trail (13th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. Grandview had a great defensive game, holding Cherokee Trail to zero points to set up the 28 - 0 win. Senior Jordan Billingsley deserves a lot of the credit as he rushed for 231 yards and three touchdowns.
No Stoppin 'Em
Fairview has been an offensive powerhouse for four straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. It breezed past Horizon with a final score of 55 - 28. One major factor in the win was the play of junior Aidan Atkinson, who tossed the ball for 466 yards and six TDs. The combined 83-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Eaglecrest (5th in the power rankings) and Cherry Creek (2nd). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Only one team will win this week, so we'll find out which team fails to repeat its success.
