Clinton at Tuttle
ÿ
It doesn't get much bigger than this Friday for Tuttle, or your casual high school football fan in Oklahoma. It is not often when one of the elite high school football programs in the state visits Tuttle's Bill Hinkle Stadium.
ÿ
That will be the case when the District 3A-1 title will be decided as two of Oklahoma's 2005 state champions collide.
ÿ
Clinton has won 14 state titles in its illustrious history, including one in Class 4A last season. Clinton, whose enrollment is around 470 students, dropped down to Class 3A before the 2006 season.
ÿ
Tuttle is the defending 3A state champion after trouncing Cascia Hall (Tulsa), 35-14, to take home the title. Zach Mincey rushed for over 2,000 yards last season to lead the way for the Tigers, who finished with a record of 14-0. Mincey is up to his old tricks from a year ago, already rushing for 1,129 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2006.
ÿ
The Red Tornadoes, who also finished 2005 unblemished, are led by sophomore running back Antonio Huddlin. Huddlin, who started on last year's state title team as a freshman, has rushed for over 1,055 yards on the season and is averaging almost 10 yards per carry.
ÿ
Both teams suffered early-season setbacks. Clinton dropped a 15-14 decision to Hobart, while Tuttle lost its season-opener to Marlow, 8-7. Marlow is currently 7-1 on the season in Class 3A could lock down a second seed from District 3A-2 with a win over Plainview this week.
ÿ
Clinton has averaged 44.6 points per game on offense in district play, while only giving up 6.6 during the same period. Tuttle has posted three shutouts on the season, while only allowing 7.3 per contest the entire season.
