ASHLAND, Ky. - After three lead changes,
Fairview (Ashland, Ky.) took the lead for good when they ran for a touchdown with 11:00 remaining in the fourth quarter and held on to defeat
Hazard (Ky.) 30-27 on Saturday.
After nabbing the lead on a touchdown run, the Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs went into halftime with a 27-22 lead. The Eagles took the lead to win the game on a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring zero points in the third, Fairview still trailed by five points going into the fourth quarter. But eight points in the fourth helped FHS pull out the victory.
The Ashland school got six points from its defense on the way to victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Hazard, which notched a 32-28 victory over Somerset in its previous outing. The loss ended Hazard's two-game winning streak. The win brought Fairview's winning streak to four games.
In a non-conference game next week Fairview (4-0) takes on East Ridge, and Hazard (2-2) will go up against Breathitt County also in a non-conference game.
