Palmetto (Fla.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 45-27 win over
Braden River (Bradenton, Fla.).
The Tigers put up three points in the opening frame. Palmetto scored on a field goal.
After taking the lead on a field goal in the first quarter, PHS was up 24-7 at the half.
The Tigers grew their lead to 24 points entering the fourth quarter. Palmetto scored two times in the third, including once on a passing touchdown.
A 40-0 Palmetto victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Tigers, who were coming off a 26-22 defeat at the hands of Sarasota in its previous game.
Palmetto (5-4) will play a non-conference game against Southeast next week, while Braden River (4-4) will take on DeSoto County also in a non-conference game.
