2A District 2 recap November 5, 2013
Luther's Darvel Fountain rumbled for the longest rushing play in 2A District 2 this season in his game against Millwood last week. Fountain ran for 71 yards on the play and finished with 139 on the day as his team lost to the Falcons.
Millwood added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Luther, 67-14. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Colton Lindsey threw for 303 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 23-34 with 0 interceptions.
Fountain was the best wideout in the league this week as Shawn Meek's team lost to the Falcons. Fountain racked up 3 receptions for 81 yards.
The Lions' Seth Stivers and Maurice Wright have formed a dream team this season, leading 2A District 2 in both passing and receiving yards. Stivers has thrown for 1,290 yards this season, while Wright has 37 catches for 684 yards. Christian Heritage's Joseph Lemiuex leads the league in rushing yards with 820.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Luther's Wright goes up against Oklahoma Christian's Kade VanMeter.
Next week's game between the Lions and the Saints will feature a good passing match up as Stivers will test his arm against VanMeter's defensive ability.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Dibble takes on Millwood. As it stands, the Demons are in sixth, while the Falcons are in first.
Oklahoma Christian took down Northeast 63-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
