You might not recognize the power rankings this week after a busy last week rearranged the teams a whole lot. Among the games was a one-point thriller between West Allegheny and Bethel Park.
Can't Touch This
West Allegheny got a 36 - 35 win over Bethel Park last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Dante Flati. Flati earned three touchdowns and 189 yards rushing the ball. That performance landed Flati among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between North Allegheny (3rd in the power rankings) and Central Catholic (7th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. North Allegheny blew past Central Catholic 27 - 3. North Allegheny gave the Central Catholic offensive line some real trouble with five sacks (and will no doubt be looking to keep the pressure on Canon-McMillan this Friday).
No Stoppin 'Em
The match between Wilmington Area and Northwestern last week put some strain on the scoreboard; in fact, with a total of 85 final points, it was the highest scoring contest in the power rankings for the week. Wilmington Area put the hurt on Northwestern with a conclusive 66 - 19 victory. Nevertheless, Wilmington Area did not have enough punch to impress the power rankings algorithm and slipped one spot in the rankings.
