GLENVIEW, Ill. - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
Warren (Gurnee, Ill.) held on for a 32-17 victory over
Glenbrook South (Glenview, Ill.) on Saturday. The difference for the Blue Devils was that
Maxwell Sorby ran for a touchdown.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown, the Titans went into halftime with a 10-7 lead. The Blue Devils took the lead for good with a Sorby touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring seven points in the third, Warren still trailed by three points going into the fourth quarter. But 18 points in the fourth helped WHS pull out the victory.
Glenbrook South came in allowing just 16.2 points per game this season. GS had a hard time against Warren's offense, which entered the game scoring zero points per game. The Blue Devils entered the contest giving up 18.7 points per game this year.
The defeat comes as a step back for Glenbrook South, which notched a 30-20 victory over Niles West in its previous outing. The victory was a step in the right direction for Warren, which was coming off a 31-19 defeat at the hands of Lake Forest in its previous game.
