Mendenhall goes toe-to-toe against Quitman this Friday at 7:00 PM. Mendenhall has flexed its offensive muscles in its last seven matchups, so Quitman has a real workout ahead of it.
Mendenhall came out on top against West Lauderdale two weeks ago with a 41 - 28 win. No one had a larger role in the success than senior Jordan Willis, who brought his A game into the contest. He picked up 306 yards on the ground.
Meanwhile, Quitman is still under.500 but has been making strides to fix that in its last two games. It blew past Northeast Jones two weeks ago 41 - 20. Sophomore Jed Lewis deserves a lot of the credit as he earned two touchdowns and 129 yards rushing the ball. Lewis has been a consistent playmaker for Quitman as this was the 4th good game in a row from him. Sophomore Kesean Johnson banked an additional two TDs for the team.
Their wins bumped Quitman to 5-5 and Mendenhall to 7-2. While both teams are coming off of wins, only one will triumph this week. We'll find out soon enough who that will be.
