After having lost a blowout to Freedom Area in their previous game, Hopewell was happy to find some success on Friday. Hopewell narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Mt. Carmel Christian 21-19. The success represented a nice turnaround for Hopewell, who in their last game suffered a tough 6-39 loss.
Hopewell's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 21 points in the first half. Mt. Carmel Christian came up with 7 to make it 21-7 heading into the break. Hopewell were outperformed in the second half 0-12 but had enough in reserve to walk away with the contest. The victory bumped their record up to 0-1. The loss dropped Mt. Carmel Christian back to even at 0-0.
Hopewell will be defending their home turf for the first time next week when they go up against Keystone Oaks at 7:00 PM. Mt. Carmel Christian have some extra time to regroup and restrategize before their next match, which is against Derry at 7:00 PM in two weeks.
