On Friday Shelby will take on East Gaston at 7:30 PM. Shelby will be hoping to continue their now four-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Shelby might be getting used to good results now that the team has four wins in a row. They were fully in charge last Friday, breezing past R-S Central 55-7. Shelby's success was spearheaded by the efforts of junior Donye Fuller, who rushed for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns, and junior Isaiah Bess, who passed for 244 yards and 5 touchdowns. Bess has now scored at least one touchdown in the past eight games.
Meanwhile, things haven't been easy for East Gaston, and their match last Friday only extended their streak of losses to eight. They ended up on the wrong side of a painful 7-33 walloping at Chase's hands. The state rankings had actually given East Gaston a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
Shelby's victory lifted them to 5-3 while East Gaston's defeat dropped them down to 0-8. The Shelby defense got after the quarterback against R-S Central to the tune of eight sacks, so East Gaston's offensive line better have put in some good practice this past week in preparation for the contest.
