It was a perfect week for the MaxPreps power rankings: not a single team changed position in spite of last week's action. A special shoutout goes to Evansville Memorial's senior Michael Lindauer, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Evansville Central's 49 - 13 win over Daviess County last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Brennan Schutte. Schutte ran for 283 yards and also punched in four touchdowns. That performance landed Schutte among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Ben Davis and Avon, 1st and 3rd in the power rankings, respectively. Victory was within reach, but Ben Davis ultimately lost 41 - 36 to Avon. The team got a solid performance out of junior Trent Gipson (he threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns); unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between North Central (20th in the power rankings) and Warren Central (2nd). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. The two teams picked up some nice yardage in their most recent games (439 for North Central and 540 for Warren Central), so expect some excitement on the offensive end of the ball.
