Jordyn Wieber, a junior at
DeWitt (Mich.), produced four solid events over the weekend to total 61.05 points and take all-around honors during the Pacific Rim gymnastics championships in Everett, Wash.
The recent American Cup champion edged teammate Kyla Ross of
Aliso Niguel (Aliso Viejo, Calif.), who placed second with 59.20 points. Ross, a two-time U.S. Junior champion, was competing in her first senior meet.
Their efforts helped the U.S. win the team championship with 239.25 points. China was second with 220.65 points despite not bringing all of its top gymnasts.
Katelyn Ohashi led the U.S. sweep in the junior competition with an all-around score of 60.00 points. Her 15.85 total on the balance beam was the highest of the day in any event.
