The Kansas state basketball tournament is just a week away meaning sub-state action is now in full swing. After picking the state tournament field for Classes 2A, 3A and 4A a week ago, it is now time to attempt the same feat for Classes 1A, 5A and 6A.
Six schools are expected to qualify its boys and girls basketball teams in their respective classifications. South Gray will be vying for the sweep in Class 1A, while Bishop Miege and Liberal may get dual championships in Class 5A.
Wichita Heights, Shawnee Mission East and Goddard are favorites to have boys and girls teams competing at White Auditorium in Emporia when state tournament play begins March 11-14 at sites in Fort Hays (1A), Topeka (5A) and Emporia (6A). Let’s take a look.
