The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday Smithville takes on Brooks in the first playoff game of the year. Smithville has witnessed its point totals drop over the past three games, a trend the team will certainly want to reverse.
Smithville came out on top against Broad Street last week with a 17 - 6 win. Senior Daniel Smith was a defensive powerhouse in the victory and ended up with 16 total tackles.
As for Brooks, it is still under.500 but has been making strides to fix that in its last two games. It didn't have too much trouble with Vardaman in its last game, where Brooks won 32 - 13.
Their wins bumped Brooks to 4-5 and Smithville to 10-2. While both teams are coming off of wins, only one will triumph this week. We'll find out soon enough who that will be.
