Maud and Cumby take on one another this Friday at 7:30 PM on Maud's home turf. Maud dropped a decent lead last game -- we'll see if that pushes the squad to a win or puts them in a funk.
Maud put forth a good scoring effort two games ago and even improved upon it last game, but that didn't prove quite enough. It lost to Grapeland by a decisive 62 - 42 scoreline last week. The defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of senior Gage Jones and senior Brooks Minter, though; the former ran for 61 yards and also punched in three touchdowns, and the latter earned one touchdown and 162 yards rushing the ball. Minter has been a consistent playmaker for Maud as this was the 4th good game in a row from him.
As for Cumby, it took its game last week with a confident 52 - 20 score. Sophomore Cameron Scott was especially active in the win, finding the end zone an impressive three times. Scott has also now scored at least one touchdown in the past four consecutive games.
Maud's defeat dropped it to 1-5 while Cumby's win brought it to 2-4. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Cumby and Maud will really light up the scoreboard.
