Winters were the big favorite in their most recent match, and for good reason. They were the clear victor by a 42-21 margin over Wheatland. That result was just more of the same for Winters, who also won the last time these teams played.
Winters' offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 35 points in the first half. Wheatland put up 7, so the score was 35-7 at the half. Although they lost the second-half battle, they still had plenty to win the war.
No one put up better numbers for Winters than senior Daniel Carrion, who brought his A game into the match. He threw 5 TDs and picked up 104 yards on the ground. Senior Atlas Martinez was in the mix, too, providing Winters with 2 touchdowns. The win bumped their record up to 4-0. The loss dropped Wheatland back to even at 2-2.
Next week Winters take on Esparto at 7:30 PM. As for Wheatland, they will face off against Colfax.
