If the MaxPreps national rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for West Point. On Friday they take on Olive Branch at 7:00 PM. Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown.
Last Friday, West Point put the finishing touches on their 4th blowout victory of the season. They took the match and then some with a 47-7 victory over Lake Cormorant. Junior Brandon Harris, who rushed for 40 yards and 3 touchdowns, was a major factor in West Point's success. Harris has now scored at least one touchdown in the past seven games.
Meanwhile, Olive Branch ran circles around Grenada, and the extra yardage (379.1 yards vs. 135 yards) paid off. Olive Branch managed a somewhat close 13-7 win over Grenada. The win was familiar territory for Olive Branch, who now have seven in a row.
West Point took their game against Olive Branch the last time the two teams met by a conclusive 39-6 score. West Point's win shoved Olive Branch out of the playoffs, so expect the team will have a target on their back in this one.
