AAA District 11 recap October 8, 2013
Franklin was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Brentwood. The Rebels came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 32 last week.
Franklin added to the longest winning streak in AAA District 11 this week by beating the Bruins, 24-21. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Rebels.
Aaron Maher threw for 265 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 21-32 with 1 interception.
Gracia Katera was a key player and the best on defense this week as Franklin defeated Brentwood. The 5-foot-10 defensive back pulled down 1 interception.
Maher put up the best numbers through the air as Mike Woodward's team lost to the Rebels. Maher's favorite target this week was Andy Schumpert, who caught 6 passes for 95 yards.
6-foot-3 quarterback Maher of the Bruins is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,228. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Vic Wharton III. The Independence star has 28 catches for 555 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Independence takes on Centennial. At the moment, the Eagles are in fourth, while the Cougars are in third.
