Cherokee (11-1) and Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy (11-1) face off this Friday at 7:30 PM to determine whose season will come to a close. Both teams are strolling into their matchup after big wins in their previous games.
Last week, Cherokee took on Union Academy. With 34 points in the first half, Cherokee started the game off on a good foot. That put it at a 34 - 14 advantage. The offense continued to do well in the second half, scoring 24 points. At the end of the day, Cherokee walked away with a breezy 58 - 35 win.
Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy can now show off eight landslide victories after its most recent game. It breezed past Elkin last week with a final score of 55 - 34. Junior Nomi McMullens had a wowing 395 passing yards passing yards in the victory. McMullens also provided one of the most memorable plays in the game by penetrating the defense for a 70-yard TD scamper in the second quarter. McMullens should be a familiar name as he has been a major contributor for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy in the past ten games. Senior Max Robbins was another big-time player for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy. He tacked on four touchdowns to Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy's score.
Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Cherokee and Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy will really light up the scoreboard.
