Cross County recap October 22, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Cross County this week, Covington beat Twin Valley South 42-6. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Buccs.
Miami East moved up to 203 from 253 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Vikings climbed the ranks as a result of topping Tri-County North 24-21.
Dane Bloomenstock was a beast in the backfield as Mississinawa Valley bested Ansonia.
Bloomenstock was a passing and rushing force as the Blackhawks bested the Tigers.
Bloomenstock was the best running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 232 yards as Mississinawa Valley lost to Mississinawa Valley. Teammate Trent Gilbert added to the ground attack by rushing for 107 yards.
National Trail's Garrett Griffin and Devin Mize led Cross County in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Griffin has thrown for 2,440 yards this season, while Mize has 44 catches for 837 yards. Eugene Hoening's team's Jordan Newman leads the league in rushing yards with 1,150.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Covington takes on second place National Trail. Last week, Covington topped the Panthers, while the Blazers defeated Bethel.
David Miller's team led the league in scoring this week by notching 42 points on Twin Valley South.
