D1 District 6 (8 Man) recap October 22, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in D1 District 6 (8 Man) this week, Creighton beat Neligh-Oakdale 58-6. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Bulldogs.
Creighton led the league in scoring this week by notching 58 points on the Warriors. Jacob Morill ran for 133 yards in the win.
Colton Boelter made the biggest impact on defense this week as Jeff Jensen's team bested Neligh-Oakdale. The 5-foot-11 junior forced 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
Blake Schrage provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Elgin/Pope John topped Plainview.
Schrage was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 172 yards on 20 carries as the Wolfpack defeated Ron Beacom's team. Alex Pelster also contributed to the rushing game with 122 yards on the ground.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Wilmes. The Creighton star has 10 catches for 232 yards.
The top two teams in D1 District 6 (8 Man) will face off this week when first place Creighton takes on second place Niobrara/Verdigre. Creighton topped the Warriors last week, while Niobrara/Verdigre bested Bloomfield.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Bulldogs take on the Cougars. Creighton has allowed 51 points this season, while Niobrara/Verdigre has given up 144. The Bulldogs allowed 6 points last week as they defeated Neligh-Oakdale.
