It has been raining all day, but still the day was eventful for not only Mike and I, but for the Massillon community. It started out early this morning with a radio talk show, and then cooled off until 7pm when the single most impressive community support showcase occurred. A parade, but not just any parade, one that took place in the rain and still drew thousands in support for their Massillon Tigers. Hundreds of vehicles lined up and drove down the middle of Massillon, passing out candy and honking their horns. The cheerleaders still danced, the band still played, and when all was said and done, Massillon had impressed me with their overwhelming love for their football team. With this in mind, I cannot picture what the excitement is going to be like if Massillon comes out with a victory tomorrow.
After the parade, Mike and I decided to watch the final game of the World Series. It just so happened to be karaoke night at Buffalo's Wild Wings, so since I wasn't able to showcase my talents in Louisiana, I decided to give good ol' Massillon a treat. I sang Prince's song "Kiss" while Mike sang "Jonny B. Good" by Chuck Berry. We brought the house down. A few people even decided to leave in the middle of our singing because I think they thought the roof was going to collapse. They sure missed out, maybe they will watch the video when it comes out. To tell you the truth we both don't have talent, Mike less than myself, but we try, and that is half the battle.
Tomorrow is a game where two teams will play each other for the 115th time. The two communities are not the biggest fans of each other, so there should be some tension in the air, and with McKinley still reeling off their loss to Massillon in the Semi-finals last year, this game should have a little more riding on it especially since Massillon needs to win to make the playoffs for sure.
What do want to say about mythical state championships because I have heard a lot about them this week, especially since we are at a high school that has 22 of them.
