Well, Cincinnati is finally over and we are officially on our way out to sunny California. We were in Ohio for exactly a week and saw the most exciting games so far. We had a blast with the X-boys as they converted Chris by painting his face white and blue Braveheart style. Once again, the students, players, and people of Ohio were awesome and made the stay in Ohio a memorable one.
Being lucky enough to have the Game of the Week go into overtime was unbelievable. It was the type of game where it was too bad someone had to lose, but that's sports. Overall the Ohio teams went 0 and 4 on Saturday at Nippert but had great success in Massillon, Ohio by winning all 3 games in the lesser publicized match-ups. As far as Ohio football goes, I have to say the football is incredibly competitive, but I certainly can't put the Buckeye state on the top of the national hierarchy. Nor can I say Ohio's Greater Catholic League that featured 3 of the 4 Saturday teams and played against ranked opponents, is the "strongest league in the county", as had been suggested prior to the week. Had Moeller and St. Xavier pulled off the wins against Brynes and Lakeland respectively, it would have been a legitimate question.
The thrill of this past weekend has begun to fade as we are realizing that we have to drive across the entire country this week. This week's drive will be the longest trek of the tour and will put the Express to the test as we travel well over 2000 miles, crazy. Tonight we've stopped outside St. Louis and will try to make it to Colorado by tomorrow night. But right now, it's time for me to go up 5 to 4 on Chris in Madden.
