With 18 teams at the same position as last week, not much has changed in the power rankings this week -- but there was still plenty of gameday excitement. We'll tackle that and more in this week's report.
No Stoppin 'Em
Given its edge in the MaxPreps state rankings, a win looked likely for Moanalua in its matchup against Nanakuli. The team got that and then some. Moanalua picked up a decisive 'W' against Nanakuli, finishing up at 56 - 6. At 50 points, that marked Moanalua's largest margin of victory so far this year. The combined 62 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (nine consecutive games). St. Francis got a somewhat close 20 - 14 victory over Roosevelt. Roosevelt had come in flaunting an aggressive defense allowing an average of only 8.42 points per game, but that obviously didn't scare off St. Francis.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Punahou (3rd in the power rankings) and Kamehameha Kapalama (6th). Punahou will be strutting in after a win while Kamehameha Kapalama will be stumbling in from a defeat. Will Punahou repeat its success, or will Kamehameha Kapalama bounce back and dish team a loss? Check back after their contest Friday for the full scoop.
