Jim Baglin retired Friday following an outstanding 33-year career as head basketball coach at West Morris Mendham (Mendham, N.J.)
. He will remain as athletic director.
The 60-year-old Baglin compiled a 685-193 record, which included two state championships and two runner-up finishes in either Group 2 or Group 3 competition.
Baglin told the Newark Star-Ledger, "There's nothing I don't like here. We have a great administration. I like the parents and even the guys I coach against. But you just know when it's time. As I've gotten older, the demands of being athletic director have grown and I just feel that I cannot continue to be the head coach.
"I'm proud of what we've accomplished in basketball, but I'm more proud of the relationships I've built with the players and entire families. Their sons may have graduated a long time ago, but they still come to games and sit in the same seats. They've stayed with us for generations."
