Eastern Wayne (6-4) has a real challenge coming up -- the hardest it has met all year. This Friday it takes on Western Alamance (11-0) in the first playoff game of the year. Western Alamance will need to watch out since Eastern Wayne has posted big point totals in its previous four matchups.
Eastern Wayne went up against Southern Wayne last week. Eastern Wayne's defense took a beating in the first half, giving up 34 points. That put it down 34 - 20. Thankfully, the offense came through for it, scoring 40 in the second half. With its shocking comeback after the third quarter, it stole a 60 - 54 win from Southern Wayne.
Meanwhile, Western Alamance can now show off ten landslide victories after its most recent game. It had a great defensive game last week, holding Northern Guilford to zero points to set up the 33 - 0 win. Western Alamance is ranked 12th in the MaxPreps state rankings (92 places ahead of Northern Guilford), so the decisive victory wasn't entirely unexpected.
The two teams picked up some nice yardage in their most recent games (466 for Eastern Wayne and 404 for Western Alamance), so expect some excitement on the offensive end of the ball.
