Adding to the longest winning streak in AAA Region 1 this week, Appling County beat Beach 38-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Pirates.
Southeast Bulloch made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,960 from 7,214. The improvement was largely due to a 43-20 victory over Brantley County last week.
5-foot-6 quarterback Raquan Green of Johnson is the league leader in passing yards this season with 852. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jermaine Williams. The Savannah star has 22 catches for 480 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Appling County takes on Tattnall County. JT Pollock's team is in third place, while the Warriors are in fourth place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Pirates take on Tattnall County. Appling County has allowed 133 points this season, while Jeff Kaiser's team has given up 115.
The Yellowjackets led the league in scoring this week after putting up 43 points on the Herons.
