Akron took an ego-bruising defeat against Cleveland Hill last Saturday, but they kept their chin up and bounced back on Friday. Akron enjoyed a cozy 33-14 win over Gowanda/Pine Valley Central.
Akron got off to a slow start in their contest last week, but they had no such trouble against Gowanda/Pine Valley Central as they cruised to a 27-point first half. Gowanda/Pine Valley Central countered with 14 points, leaving the score at 27-14 going into the half. The other side of the ball was dominant for Akron in the second half, holding Gowanda/Pine Valley Central to a measly 0 points.
Akron found Akron's leader in underclassman sophomore Adam Mietz, who rushed for 167 yards and 3 touchdowns. In fact, with 11 tackles Young was a force on both sides of the ball. Sophomore Adam Mietz was in the mix, too, providing Akron with three touchdowns. The match pushed Gowanda/Pine Valley Central down to 3-4 and pulled Akron up to the reverse at 4-3.
Both teams will be heading out of the conference in their next games. Next week Akron take on TBA . As for Gowanda/Pine Valley Central, they will face off against TBA.
