1. SEFFNER ARMWOOD (6-0) – The Hawks dominated in their 45-6 dismantling of No. 8 Tampa Bay Tech. Armwood allowed a strong Tech team just 90 yards of offense and intercepted three passes. The Armwood defense has allowed 18 points all season long!

2. TAMPA CHAMBERLAIN (6-0) – The Chiefs scored seven times in their opening seven possessions en route to a 56-9 win against Class 5A, District 6 foe Tampa Sickles. Dontae Aycock and Kenny Allen combined for 266 yards rushing as the Chiefs ran their season-long scoring margin to 242 to 68.
Up next: Hosting Tampa Jefferson (3-2)
3. TAMPA PLANT (4-1) – Playing in a game that Panthers’ coach Robert Weiner said was the first this season that really mattered, Plant played like it does in pretty much all the rest of them – very well. Quarterback Aaron Murray threw for 264 yards and six TDs in a 42-0 thrashing of Tampa Blake.
Up next: Hosting Tampa Hillsborough (5-1)
4. LARGO (5-0) – The Packers got 234 yards of offense and two touchdowns from quarterback Ryan Eppes in a 46-6 win against Pinellas Park. Standout linebacker Mike Marry was just plain offensive, adding two running touchdowns and a receiving score as well.
Up next: at St. Petersburg Lakewood (4-1)
5. TAMPA HILLSBOROUGH (5-1) – Tailback Lindsey Lamar put on a show against Freedom, running for 222 yards and five touchdowns in a 56-19 victory. The win gave the Terriers a jump on Armwood in the Class 4A, District 11 race. (Hint: the two powerhouses collide at Hillsborough on Oct. 24). Although it’s not a district contest, Hillsborough has a tough matchup this week in No. 3 Plant.
Up next: at Tampa Plant (4-1)
6. TAMPA ALONSO (5-1) – Alonso quarterback C.J. Bennett continues his assault on his school’s passing records. Bennett was 20-of-29 for 345 yards and four touchdowns last week in the Ravens’ 36-17 win against Tampa King. Bennett has thrown for 1,400 yards and 16 touchdowns in six games.
Up next: Hosting Tampa Gaither (3-3)
7. NEW PORT RICHEY GULF (6-0) – Running back Adrian Golden’s 270-yard rushing performance helped the Buccaneers defeat Land O’ Lakes Sunlake 43-2, giving Gulf its first-ever 6-0 start to a season. But the Bucs’ real star is their defense. They’ve only allowed 57 points all season and 28 of those came in one game.
Up next: Hosting Hudson (2-3)
8. TAMPA BAY TECH (5-1) – No shame in taking a beating from No. 1 Armwood. They’ve been handing them out around these parts for years. However, it does put added important on the Titans’ Halloween night 4A-11 district game against Tampa Middleton. Two losses in the district is likely a ticket home for the playoffs.
Up next: at Ruskin Lennard (3-3)
9. DADE CITY PASCO (5-1) – Jamall Haynes ran for 205 yards and two touchdowns as the Pirates beat neighborhood rival Zephyrhills 28-0. It was Pasco’s first win against Zephyrhills since 2004. The Nov. 7 showdown with No. 7 Gulf is looking like the 3A-8 district title game.
Up next: Land O' Lakes Sunlake (1-4), Oct. 24
10. ST. PETERSBURG LAKEWOOD (4-1) – Bernard Reedy scored twice, including on an 89-yard kickoff return as the Spartans handled Bradenton Bayshore 35-13. After its’ season-opening loss to St. Petersburg Gibbs, Lakewood has won four straight in convincing fashion.
